Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) is organizing an Experimental High Energy Particle & Astroparticle Physics School on Software Development (EHEPAP-2026) at SINP from February 15 to February 23, 2026. The school will be held in person.

The goal of the school is to train young participants on core software development (Detector geometry building and simulation of particle interaction using Geant4, Tracking and track fitting,  Calorimetric clustering, Detector Simulation and Event Reconstruction for Imaging Atmospheric Cerenkov Telescope etc.) in frontier experimental research areas in High-Energy Nuclear and Particle Physics and Astroparticle Physics. The school will have lectures on concepts followed by extensive hands-on sessions for each of the above mentioned tracks.

The maximum number of students that can be accommodated in the main School is about 50 out of which a maximum of 35 outstation students can be accommodated.

We plan to hold an online 2-week pre-school from the third week of January 2026. The pre-school will have lectures on overview of detectors used in High Energy Nuclear, Particle and Astroparticle physics experiments and related detection techniques; C++ and ROOT.

Eligibility: Research scholars, post-doctoral fellows, young faculty members from institutions, universities, colleges and young researchers from R&D centers working in experimental high energy physics, astro-particle physics and nuclear physics. A few exceptionally bright and motivated  final year M.Sc./M.Tech. students may also be selected. Prerequisite for the school are basic knowledge of

  • Particle and Astroparticle physics
  • Matter particle interaction
  • C++/Python programing language
  • Linux OS

Please note that the Scientific Program / Timetable is still under active development.
