About SLENA-23  -

FRENA at SINP has been organizing SLENA with an aim to train and educate a generation of physicists who can design experiments with FRENA- a DAE funded national accelerator facility. Since FRENA is the first-of-its-kind accelerator in the country, it has great potential towards addressing long-standing nuclear astrophysics problems. SLENA will provide an opportunity to interact with internationally reputed researchers working in nuclear astrophysics problems for decades, which will be highly beneficial for students as well as scientists in India.

The participants will be a balance between senior scientists and young researchers, to ensure maximum interaction among contemporaries as well as with peers. This will enable activation of new collaborative efforts within the Indian community, as well as with reputed international laboratories.

Topics to be covered (non-exhaustive)  -

  • Nuclear reactions below the Coulomb barrier: the fundamentals
  • Potential experiments at FRENA with proton, alpha and heavy ion beams
  • Gas-jet target development: the fundamentals
  • Application of pulsed light-ion beams in nuclear astrophysics
  • Nuclear astrophysics with radioactive ion beams
  • Future at FRENA: AMS, RMS and beyond
